Updates Indigenous Drilling Division, Askiy Drilling Ltd. Launched

Earth Drilling Co. launched its Indigenous Drilling Division, Askiy Drilling Ltd. in January 2022.

Askiy, meaning “Earth” in Cree, is positioned to support the continued growth of the company by working towards reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. With a goal to collaborate with Indigenous communities on a common vision for progress, sustainable economic development and environmental stewardship, Askiy strives to establish meaningful relationships built on trust, respect and honesty.

“I wish to build trust with the various Indigenous communities. Askiy can help build these communities with sustainable and equitable infrastructure and empower communities,” said JP Wegleitner, Chief Executive Officer of Earth Drilling.

The Chief Operating Officer of Askiy is Brent Boisvert. Boisvert is a Treaty 8 grassroots member of the Bigstone Cree Nation in Alberta. When talking about Askiy, Boisvert said “we need to honour and respect each community’s use of their lands and follow their culture and traditions.” Boisvert believes in working together to build long-term relationships.

Earth Drilling was founded in 1976 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Primarily a water well drilling company, the Saskatchewan residents came to know Earth Drilling as a household name. In 2012 the Wegleitner Family assumed ownership of Earth Drilling, realigning the direction and vision for the future of the Company, integrating both legacy and new vision.
